INSTALLATION NOTES / TROUBLE-SHOOTING:
Windows XP or Vista Users: BiaQIm will not run unless you set your system to 'Windows Classic Mode'. (If you have attempted to start BiaQIm, first force it to quite via the Task Manager or restart your PC before continuing). To set your system to Windows Classic mode do the following: Right click on the background of the desktop and select 'Properties'; the 'Display Properties' dialogue box will appear. On this there is a 'Themes' tab and an 'Appearance' tab. Select the 'Themes' tab where you will find a drop-down list of desktop themes - select 'Windows Classic' from this list then click 'Apply'. Now go to the 'Appearance' tab where you will find a drop-down list called 'Windows and buttons' - select option 'Windows classic Style'. Now click 'Apply' and 'OK' to close the dialogue box. Your desktop will change to the Windows Classic style. Now BiaQIm should run properly when you start it.
Installation doesn't work: Some configurations of Windows require the installation msi file(s) to be on your 'C' drive otherwise the installation will not work.
Manuals If you would just like to see the user's manual first before downloading the whole software here are links to the PDF files:![]()
BiaQIm Manual (6 Mb)![]()
Biaram Manual (563 Kb)
BiaQIm
Download v.2.5 Alpha (January 2008, 7.95 Mb MSI file). This installs BiaQIm, three deconvolution programs and a test folder called 'DCTest' which contains a Readme.txt file and sample images which you can use to follow the step-by-step guide to performing deconvolution found in chapter 11 of the User's Manual.
Biaram This is v.1.0.1 (March 2008) and replaces the two older downloads (BiaramQI and Biaram) with new programs and bug fixes added. This 37.8 MB MSI file has been split into 4 separate binary files (about 9 Mb each) which you need to combine into one file before installation by following these instructions (read carefully).
Intructions
1. Download all 5 files below including the 'Biaram.bat' file.
2. Ensure that all those files are in the same folder (your desktop should do fine).
3. Double-click the 'Biaram.bat' file and wait a few seconds (a DOS prompt will flash on the screen briefly as the download components are stiched together into the complete MSI file).
5. You should now see a new file in that folder called 'Biaram.msi'. This is the complete installation file. Double-click it to begin the installation process. You are advised to keep the default settings this installation program offers you during the installation process.
Biaram.bat (file 1)
Biaram.msi_00 (file 2)
Biaram.msi_01 (file 3)
Biaram.msi_02 (file 4)
Biaram.msi_03 (file 5)
NOTE: The Biaram programs (this includes external processes accessed through BiaQIm) cannot cope with path names containing spaces, so avoid using folders or files with spaces in their name such as 'My Documents', 'Program Files' and anything in 'Documents and Settings' (this includes the 'Desktop').
FATCAM
Download v.1.04 alpha (March 2008, 687 Kb Zip file). This program (for generating 3D VRML models) is supplied as a zipped folder containing the executable and help files. There is no formal installation process but Biaram must be installed for FATCAM to work properly. Also, XP/Vista systems must be running in Windows Classic mode (see above).
